Development and Implementation of a Research Journal in a First Term Seminar Course
Friday April 24, 2026 10:30am - 11:20am CDT
In Fall of 2024, librarians at St. Catherine University developed and implemented a Research Journal to guide students through the research process in their first term seminar course. From brainstorming broad topics and writing appropriate research questions to finding, evaluating, reading, and citing sources, the journal scaffolds the research process and breaks it into manageable steps that make research more approachable for students. This presentation will focus on how we developed the Research Journal, the response of faculty, the engagement with students, and how librarians modified the journal based on faculty and student feedback.

Implementing a "Publishing Workflow" in LibGuides
Friday April 24, 2026 10:30am - 11:20am CDT
Ensuring LibGuides are accessible is trickier than Springshare wants you to think. UMN Twin Cities recently turned on the "Publishing Workflow" feature and learned some good lessons! But it's been a successful change.

Leading from the Library: Developing and Implementing AI Strategy from a Student-Centered Perspective
Friday April 24, 2026 10:30am - 11:20am CDT
Academic libraries are uniquely positioned to take the lead on campus as AI reshapes teaching, learning, and scholarship. This session explores how our library has moved beyond reactive conversations to proactively shaping institutional AI strategy through the work of Concordia University, St. Paul's Library and Curriculum and Instruction Center (CIC). As the library and CIC staff have worked on AI-related projects, they have shaped and helped form a university-wide AI framework and a consistent AI syllabus statement.

CIC is implementing a number of AI initiatives on campus, including tutorials, faculty development sessions, tool implementation, and a comprehensive student AI use scale. These collaborations across instruction librarians, instructional design, academic support, and LMS teams create a comprehensive, student-centered AI framework. Rather than framing AI use as a compliance issue, we approached it as an opportunity to reframe student success.

Attendees will leave with:
  • A scalable model for AI assignment transparency
  • Strategies for collaborative policy development
  • Concrete examples of student- and faculty-facing support
  • A framework for positioning the library as a leader in responsible AI integration
Join us to explore how academic libraries can move from AI uncertainty to intentional leadership—supporting faculty innovation while centering student learning and success.
