Breaking Down Silos: Leading an Integrated Writing, Tutoring, and Library Support Team
Friday April 24, 2026 11:30am - 12:20pm CDT
What does it look like to create an integrated team of writing services, peer tutoring support, and library instruction on campus? At Concordia University, St. Paul (CSP), we've spent the last several years building a unified academic support team that includes instruction librarians and writing and tutoring support managers. In this session, learn about the transition of separate, parallel services to a unified student success model that simplifies access and strengthens collaboration.

We'll discuss the practical realities of organizational restructuring and building trust across professional identities, aligning different service philosophies, and navigating staffing and workflow changes. In tandem with personnel restructuring, CSP has also implemented a new campus-wide scheduling and student success platform that integrates appointments across all services, and other services on campus. This creates a single, streamlined access point for students while requiring significant behind-the-scenes coordination.

Attendees will leave with candid lessons learned, leadership strategies, and concrete takeaways for supervising integrated academic support teams in ways that honor librarianship while advancing a connected, student-centered approach.

The proof is in the failure
Friday April 24, 2026 11:30am - 12:20pm CDT
We have all failed at something. Most of us would acknowledge the importance of failure in learning. Then why is failing so hard?! Let's talk about the last time you tried something that you thought might fail. In this roundtable, we will share mistakes made and failures embraced, and explore supportive and constructive ways to deal with the flops.
